Let skills in Gemini tackle your most repetitive tasks
What: Today we’re rolling out skills directly into the Gemini chat globally 1. Skills are a reusable set of instructions that tell Gemini how to handle specific tasks. Think of them as saved shortcuts to faster prompting. Gemini can now help you build custom skills from your chats and automatically run them whenever you enter a matching prompt. For bigger tasks, you can stack multiple skills together at the same time — like combining a writing style skill with a brand guidelines skill to create on-brand assets in your voice. Skills will soon replace Gems as the tool for tailoring instructions for specific tasks. To make this transition seamless, we will automatically migrate your Gems into skills when Gems go away. You can learn more about how to transition your Gems into skills by visiting our help center. Why: We want to help you spend less time prompting and more time doing. With skills, you can save your most-used instructions once and run them endlessly – so you can skip the repetitive prompting and jump straight to the results.

Create and edit with your voice, anywhere on your desktop with Gemini on macOS
What: We’re introducing a new way to work with Gemini using just your voice, right where you are. Press and hold the Fn key to dictate into your active window and have Gemini transcribe your spoken words into clean, polished text directly at your cursor. What: We’re introducing the Gemini app for Mac, a native desktop experience built to help you get more done without disrupting your flow. With a simple keyboard shortcut (Option + Space), you can bring up Gemini alongside any application you're using. You can also seamlessly share your window, allowing Gemini to understand your context and assist with exactly what’s on your screen. Make the switch: Seamlessly bring your AI memories and chat history to Gemini
What: Starting today, we are rolling out new switching tools to your Settings page for all consumer accounts. You can now easily import your personal context, preferences, and full chat history from other AI apps directly into Gemini. To bring over your memories, simply select the import option in Settings, paste the suggested prompt into your other AI app, and copy its generated summary back into Gemini. You can also seamlessly pick up where you left off by uploading a ZIP file of your chat history from other providers. Additionally, we are renaming the "past chats" feature to "memories," which will roll out in the app over the next few weeks. Why: The most helpful AI assistant is one that understands your preferences and past conversations. Starting over with a new assistant can feel daunting, so we created these tools to let you quickly get Gemini up to speed on what matters most to you without starting from scratch. Meet your new AI browsing assistant: Gemini in Chrome
What: We’re introducing major updates to Gemini in Chrome to help you get the most out of the web. Built on Gemini 3, our most intelligent model, this update brings a new side panel experience that lets you multitask, access deeper Google apps integration, and quickly edit images with Nano Banana—all without leaving your tab. We're also introducing a preview of auto browse to help you automate tasks while keeping you in control. This experience is available on Windows, MacOS, and Chromebook Plus in the U.S. Auto browse is currently rolling out in preview in the U.S. to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. These updates are not yet available to Google Workspace business and education plans. What: Starting today, you can now connect Gemini to your Google apps —including Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search—to unlock a more proactive and personalized experience. We built Personal Intelligence with privacy at the center. Connecting your apps is off by default: you choose to turn it on, decide exactly which apps to connect, and can turn it off anytime. This beta version of Personal Intelligence is rolling out to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. It works across Web, Android, and iOS. Your Custom Gems are Now Shareable
What: Starting today, you can share the Gems you create with friends, family, and colleagues. Gems are a simple way to customize Gemini to achieve your specific goals. This means you can tackle recurring tasks without retyping lengthy prompts and providing context each time. Share your weekly meal planner Gem to help a friend get inspiration, or send your vacation planner Gem to a family member before their big trip. To share, simply open your Gem manager on the web and click “Share” next to any Gem you’ve created. Sharing Gems works just like sharing files in Google Drive, giving you control over who can view or edit your Gem. Visit the Help Center to learn more about sharing Gems. Why: Turn your favorite Gems into a shared resource so you can help others also save time on repetitive prompting and get started more easily. Rather than creating from scratch, you can use a fine-tuned Gem with effective instructions with friends or even an entire organization.

Revisit your conversations: You can now search your Gemini chat history
What: Find and revisit past conversations in Gemini. To get started, simply expand your navigation menu and tap the magnifying glass or the “Search for chats” bar. Enter a keyword or phrase, and Gemini will display all relevant conversations. This feature is live globally on web and mobile. Why: This is one of our most highly requested features, and lets you collaborate more seamlessly with Gemini. No matter if you're working on a project from last week or searching for a prompt you crafted a month ago, the search bar helps you find what you need in seconds to keep your momentum going.

Introducing Temporary Chat
What: Now you can have a quick, one-off conversation with the Gemini app that won’t be saved to your chat history. Our new Temporary Chat feature is great for when you're exploring private questions or brainstorming an idea that's outside your usual style. To start, select the “Temporary Chat” icon next to “New Chat”. This feature will be rolling out over the coming weeks, starting today. Why: With Temporary Chat, you can have conversations that won’t appear in your recent chats or Gemini Apps Activity. These chats won’t be used to train Google’s AI models or personalize your Gemini experience, giving you a clean slate whenever you need one.

What: Starting today, you can generate custom practice quizzes to help you prepare for an upcoming exam or simply increase your knowledge of any topic - big or small. Create quizzes based on documents you want to study, such as PDFs or class notes, or ask Gemini to create a quiz on a specific topic, and you’ll get a dynamic quiz experience, complete with hints, explanations for right and wrong answers, and a helpful summary at the end highlighting where you did well and where you may need to study a little harder. This experience is available to users over the age of 18 and to qualifying Google Workspace education plans. Why: With Gemini’s intuitive and streamlined practice quizzes, learners can lean on the advantages of generative AI to help them prepare: unlimited quiz generation, personalized responses, and conversational learning experiences.
