What: We’re introducing a dedicated student hub in the Gemini app to help students easily manage classes and create personalized study notebooks from their own course materials like syllabi. What: Starting today, we are rolling out new switching tools to your Settings page for all consumer accounts. You can now easily import your personal context, preferences and full chat history from other AI apps directly into Gemini. To bring over your memories, simply select the import option in Settings, paste the suggested prompt into your other AI app and copy its generated summary back into Gemini. You can also seamlessly pick up where you left off by uploading a ZIP file of your chat history from other providers. Additionally, we are renaming the 'past chats' feature to 'memories', which will roll out in the app over the next few weeks. Why: The most helpful AI assistant is one that understands your preferences and past conversations. Starting over with a new assistant can feel daunting, so we created these tools to let you quickly get Gemini up to speed on what matters most to you without starting from scratch. What: Starting today, you can share the Gems that you create with friends, family and colleagues. Gems are a simple way to customise Gemini to achieve your specific goals. This means that you can tackle recurring tasks without retyping lengthy prompts and providing context each time. Share your weekly meal planner Gem to help a friend get inspiration, or send your holiday planner Gem to a family member before their big trip. To share, simply open your Gem manager on the web and click 'Share' next to any Gem that you've created. Sharing Gems works just like sharing files in Google Drive, giving you control over who can view or edit your Gem. Visit the Help Centre to learn more about sharing Gems. Why: Turn your favourite Gems into a shared resource so that you can help others also save time on repetitive prompting and get started more easily. Rather than creating from scratch, you can use a fine-tuned Gem with effective instructions with friends or even an entire organisation.
