This reminds me of the bet I won against Gary Marcus, who claimed OpenAI’s valuation would be under $86 billion by the end of 2025😅 These people got AI advances unbelievably wrong & some are still doubling down, calling it all hype. No! it’s still underhyped! They don’t get it!

in every cycle there's people writing about how certain businesses will fail because of all these problems

but the entire process of building a business is solving problems one by one

people have a tough time imagining that all the people working there can figure it out

    Is SaaS dead?

I analyzed 758 startups with over $1,000 MRR on http://TrustMRR.com.

    1. Their revenue over the last 4 months is slightly declining.

That compounded decline would be about 11% per year. At a steady pace, that's 45% degrowth in 5 years.

    2. B2B revenue is holding up better than B2C.

    Median revenue growth was 0% for B2B (255 businesses), versus −6.2% for B2C (257).

    3. Existing momentum tends to persist.

Among businesses whose revenue grew at least 5% from June to July, 54% subsequently grew MRR. Among those whose revenue previously fell by at least 5%, only 35% grew MRR.

n=758 startups and $41.63M in revenue in the last 4 months.

we've extended the same pattern as our tui plugins to support this

so basically one package can ship server, tui, and desktop plugins

that right panel is a great place to put all kinds of useful things

The UK is just front running what will happen in the rest of the world: you'll either be on benefits, in a minimum wage job, or a high tax earner. No in-between.

I still have non-Brazilian friends who think São Paulo is fine to visit

We hired a great Uber driver to drive us to Florianopolis, like a 3 hour trip, cause was easier than flying then, very nice guy

While driving I sat in the back talking a bit with him and practicing my Portuguese

Then I noticed he didn't wear a seatbelt so I asked why

He said "so I can draw my gun quickly"

I said "desculpa the fuck what gun"

Then he showed he was wearing a holster on his right side with a gun it which he carried for safety because he said drive into and out of São Paulo often

So being a funny naive Dutch guy I asked "so did you ever kill someone?"

He said "yes I killed a guy last year who came at me and who tried steal my car in São Paulo"

And then he told me he was in a judicial trial about it and being prosecuted for it

I asked him again in the naive Dutch guy perspective "did you get like therapy after? like must be intense right, do you feel bad about that?

He said "no why? If I didn't kill him he would have killed me" ☠️

Foreigners especially Europeans have no clue how violent São Paulo and Rio are, it's just not in their mental framework to be able to understand the danger, Brazilians themselves are surprisingly honest and realistic about it

There a reason I stay the F out of São Paulo

I mpstly stick to South Brazil, it's safe, not as safe as Europe but mostly very safe and not really violent. The violence and crime there seems mostly isolated between gangs and in the few favelas there

About that too I asked Brazilians "why is South Brazil so safe?"

And they mostly agreed when a guy told me "because the police here shoot to kill" while in São Paulo and Rio the police is too scared to get prosecuted for killing people

I feel like I need a word for the type of task that agents are really good at

I.e. where it has 100% of the data, it can run experiments, verify independently, and hill-climb towards its destination

On these tasks my trust level is totally maxed-out and the results are incredible

Just need a word for them

Fix building now. New pipeline to prevent this coming soon after.

Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH), a 27-year-old conjecture in complexity theory, just fell.

On Oct 16, OpenAI and Anthropic models independently solved 3-SAT with the same 2^(n/√log n) bound. Not P = NP, but faster than anyone thought possible.

    We live in extraordinary times.

lots of new faces here this month (welcome 👋) so let me introduce myself again:

2015: first startup with my co-founder Tom - a kids app. 500,000 downloads. zero revenue. sold it and walked away

2017: raised €500K for a coding platform. Ubisoft deal collapsed. bankrupt. €250K in debt

2018: CTO job, kid #1 on the way

2020: quit to travel the world. COVID hit. stuck in France

2021: Tom and I shipped 11 products in 4 months. the first 10 failed. the 11th was Tweet Hunter - $100 MRR in 3 days

2022: $1M ARR, Product Hunt Maker of the Year, sold Tweet Hunter and Taplio to lempire for $10m

2024: left lempire. started over. no VC, no investors

2025: Revid crossed $500k MRR, Outrank crossed $200k MRR

2026 so far: - crossed $1M/month across the portfolio - launched Squad, and Bazzly became my 8th product at $10k+ MRR - got my pilot licence ✈️ - realized my products made more since 2024 than the exit itself

and my brain is fried 😅

(like every maker out there i guess)

took me tons of failed products to find my way

An absolutely GOATed example of domain knowledge being important

I'm working on my video editor.

I know enough about phonetics to know that certain consonants can fiddle around with silence detection.

    I tell my agent that.

The word 'fricative' is enough for it to start busting out full IPA (international phonetic alphabet) and we brainstorm which consonants are the most troublesome.

Turns out, knowing things is really fucking valuable.

a year ago an OCR model could almost read this doctor's prescription

today i gave the same image to @googlegemma's Gemma 4 31B, the top model in my handwriting test on saturday

"buen daay" is now "seven days"

would you let a model do the first read before the pharmacist?

.@hammer_mt starts a fresh chat for every task, even for the same project.

He does this to avoid context rot, which happens when accumulated history makes AI responses worse.

These are 7 tips for context engineering:

    1. Start a new thread whenever the tone or type of task changes. 2. Keep memory turned off so irrelevant context can’t leak into the current conversation. 3. Only upload the documents the task needs. 4. Keep the preferences you always want—like spelling, tone, or length—in a saved document and paste them in at the top of every new chat. 5. Write the full brief before you start and put everything the model needs into the first message rather than drip-feeding it. 6. When the AI makes a mistake, go back and edit your previous message so it has no memory of doing anything wrong. 7. Before you leave a long thread, ask the model the question Mike has recommended when working on recurring tasks: What information would have been useful to know at the start of this task that would have eliminated several steps or mistakes?

Get Mike’s new book, Context Engineering with DSPy: https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/context-engineering-with/0642572261603/

If P=NP but with the caveat that the proof is so convoluted, complex and long that only a machine is be able to verify it, what does that mean

Also why could then we never get any NP problem doen to P

And what is the proof or algo that will get down NP problems to P ones?

We looked through some of our eval traces where Qwen works on routine, non-cyber tasks, and like Cohere, also found examples of Qwen3.8-Max and Qwen3.8-27B making unwanted requests to an Alibaba Cloud server, though with no obvious attempts at data exfiltration.

this is exactly why I started the tmaker Founders Room

the hardest part of building alone is not having anyone at your stage to talk real numbers with

it's free to join if you have $1k+ MRR

love seeing you guys win 👏

This hotel in Dubai is so good

It’s built for health and wellness. They have hotels rooms with pull up bars and treadmills. They have night lights so you fall asleep easily. The rooms are dead quiet.

The gym is insane. View in the Burj Khalifa, tons of machines for lifting, free classes of all genre (Hyrox, yoga, core). It’s brand new. And of course sauna, steam room and cold plunge.

And surprisingly, room aren’t that expensive. I think we paid $250 per night

They also serve healthy food but it’s super mega expensive.

My dream is to build longevity hotels and this is the closest to what I imagined. It’s lacking: cooling beds, cooler AC (21 degrees in the room max 🥹😭), air purifiers.

The hotel is Siro One Za’abeel, recommended by @levelsio
